Why the S00 (Gen 2)
The top of the Gen 2 range
Enviolo Heavy Duty, a stepless hub with a 380% range, on a Gates carbon belt. There are no gears to count. You twist the grip and the ratio moves, and it moves while you are stopped. At a light at the bottom of a hill, with a kid on the back, you can dial it easy before you pedal. A chain bike will not do that.
The Heavy Duty is the version built for load, and on a belt there is nothing to oil, nothing to index and nothing hanging off the back to bend.
What the extra thousand buys
The HSD P5i and the HSD S11 are both $4,499 and share this frame, this battery and this 397 lb capacity. The S00 is $5,499.
What you get for the difference is the Enviolo instead of a five speed hub or an eleven speed chain. That is it. It is a real upgrade if you stop and start constantly with a load, which in this city you do. It is not worth a thousand dollars if your ride is flat and quiet.
We would rather you buy the P5i and a second lock than the S00 and feel it later.

Features
Stronger, Stiffer Frame
The HSD frame is now 15% stronger at the head tube and 39% at the bottom bracket. The enhanced stiffness means more stability under load, with less wobble or sway. A stiffer frame also means better handling, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces, while helping to absorb vibrations and bumps on the road.
Heavy-Duty Rack Design
With a capacity rated to 80 kg (176 lb), the versatile HSD Atlas H Rack makes it easier to ride more and drive less. The rack easily fits a child seat, and is strong and spacious enough to accommodate an adult-passenger or larger cargo. Take on bigger tasks, carry larger passengers, and set off on more adventures.
Cargo-Carrying Versatility
Carry up to 20 kg (44 lb) of extra cargo by installing one of the many compatible cargo-carrying accessories onto the burly, frame-mounted Combo Mount. Switch between bags, baskets, and racks. Carry more cargo up front when there is a passenger behind. All cargo weight is carried by the frame, without interfering with steering.
