Why the C380

The relaxed one

Bolt upright riding position, low-step frame, leather grips, suspension seatpost, a 625 Wh battery and a Gates belt on an Enviolo stepless hub. The Avignon C380 is the bike for someone who wants to sit up, see the street, ride at a civilized pace and never touch the drivetrain.

The fork is a Mono Integrated design with 40 mm of travel hidden in the head tube, so the front of the bike stays clean. It is a genuinely nice looking machine.

Now the honest part

The Avignon is $5,199. The Ultimate C380+ is $4,999. Same Enviolo and Gates belt setup. The Ultimate has a bigger motor at 85 Nm against 75, assists to 28 mph against 20, weighs 59.5 lb against 63.1, has four piston brakes against two, and has a real 80 mm air fork.

What the Avignon gives you instead: 85 more watt hours, a removable Intuvia 100 display, and a shape and a ride position the Ultimate does not have.

Buy this bike because you want this bike. It is the comfortable one and the pretty one, and for a lot of people that is the whole point. Do not buy it thinking it is the better spec sheet, because it is not, and we would rather tell you that now than have you work it out in six months.
