Why the S12
The one for where the pavement stops
The Orox is not a school run bike and we are not going to sell it as one. It is a 27.5 by 4 inch fat tire cargo bike built to haul a load down a fire road. Lincoln Woods, the unpaved stretches along the Blackstone, a trailhead with two weeks of camping gear on the back. That is what this is for.
What an S12 is
Shimano Deore 1×12 with an XT derailleur and a 10 to 51 tooth cassette. That bottom gear is the whole point. Loaded, on a climb, on loose ground, you want a gear that low and a chain drivetrain you can fix anywhere.

Read this before you buy one for the city
It is 81.8 lb before you put anything on it, and four inch tires are slow and heavy on pavement. If you are never leaving the road, the GSD P10 carries the same kids, costs the same during the sale, and is a far better city bike.
Buy the Orox because you actually go off road. Not because it looks like it could.
