The Tern NBD S5i is a super accessible, low-step ebike, designed to fit riders from 4’10” up to 6’3″. One of our lightest ebikes, the NBD provides stable handling and reliable pedal assist power in a compact and approachable form factor. The S5i features Shimano Nexus 5 speed internally geared hub and Gates carbon fiber belt drive, ensuring high reliability and practically zero maintenance. With its unique blend of convenience, performance and style, the NBD has become our most popular model of ebike.
Capacity: 308 lb (140 kg) max gross vehicle weight, 265 lb (120 kg) max rider weight. The Gaia rear rack is rated to 60 lb (27 kg) and fits most child seats.

Features
The lowest step-over Tern makes
You step through, not over. The NBD is the bike we hand to people who have not ridden in years, and to anyone who does not want to swing a leg over a top tube. It fits riders from 4’10” to 6’3″.
Nexus 5 hub on a Gates belt
Five sealed gears, no chain, no oil, nothing to index. Bosch Performance Line, 65 Nm, with a 500 Wh battery and hydraulic disc brakes. As close to zero maintenance as an e-bike gets.
The handlebars fold, the frame does not
Fold the bars flat and it fits through a hallway, into a closet, or across the back of an SUV. It is not a folding bike, but it stores like a much smaller one.
Carries a kid
The rear rack takes 60 lb and fits most child seats, and the bike is rated to 308 lb total. Upright position, swept-back bars, wide grips. Built to be comfortable first.
